WHAT’S NEW
JFS-B Plus Standard Ver. 1.0 and JFS-B Plus Audit and Conformity Assessment Program Provision were released.
Japan Food Safety Management Association (JFSM) released the JFS-B Plus Standard (Requirements for Organizations) Ver. 1.0 and the JFS-B Plus Audit and Conformity Program Provision Ver. 1.0 on May 29, 2024.
JFSM operates the JFS-C standard for food manufacturers, a GFSI-recognized food-safety standard.
In addition, we offer JFS-B standard, which fully implements Codex HACCP, and JFS-A standard, which incorporates flexible operation of Codex HACCP, so that food manufacturers can prepare for the step-up to JFS-C standard or aim to obtain third-party certification tailored to their level.
In November 2023, a new tool for the Global Market Program, a capability program in food safety, was released by GFSI.
For food business operators seeking to comply with this program, we have developed JFS-B Plus standard, which incorporates all the differences between the Intermediate level of the new Global Market Program and JFS-B Standard Ver. 3.0.
The guideline for JFS-B Plus standard are still under development, so please be patient.
JFS-B Plus standard has the following features;
- JFS-B Plus standard incorporates all differences between the new Global Market Program Intermediate Level and the JFS-B Standard Ver. 3.0.
- JFS-B Plus includes requirements of JFS-B Standard Ver. 3.0, which is not included in the new global market.
- JFS-B Plus is also consistent with the JFS-C standard requirements Version 3.1. In order to make JFS-B Plus a standard that can be stepped up to the JFS-C standard, the parts of the JFS-C requirements that were not specified in version 3.1 have been added as requirements compared to the intermediate level of the Global Market Program. Therefore, there is nothing more excessive than in the 3.1 version of the JFS-C requirements.
- HACCP requirements and GMP 4.1 and 4.2 have been aligned with JFS-C version 3.1 requirements. Other definitions of terms and textual expressions have also been reviewed and harmonized.
- JFS-B Plus does not endorse the GFSI Global Market Program name and logo.
The current JFS-A/B standard will be maintained and all of the following patterns are possible. Therefore, there will be no impact on companies that have acquired the JFS-B standard and will maintain the JFS-B standard in the future.
- Step up from JFS-B standard to JFS-C standard (no change from previous)
- Step up from JFS-B Standard to JFS-B Plus
- Step up from JFS-B Plus standard to JFS-C standard
- Obtain from JFS-B Plus without obtaining the JFS-B standard
- Maintain JFS-B Plus standard and do not step up to JFS-C standard
