The Japan Food Safety Management Association (JFSM) and the Taiwan Quality Foods Development Association (TQFA) signed a partnership agreement at the TQFA 2022 Annual General Meeting held on November 30, 2022, to provide ongoing support to the Taiwanese and Japanese food industries seeking international business opportunities in terms of food safety certification programs. The JFSM and TQFA have signed a partnership agreement to provide continuous support to the food industries in Japan and Taiwan that are seeking international business opportunities in terms of food safety certification programs.
The partnership agreement between JFSM and TQFA was signed by TQFA President Neng-Chuan Chou and JFSM President Tetsuro Ohu in the presence of Mr. Lien Jin-chuan, Director General, Industrial Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan, and Mr. Takashi Hattori, Vice President, Japan Taiwan Foundation, Taipei Office. Tetsuro Ohane, Chairman of JFSM, and Neng-Chuan Chou, Chairman of TQFA, signed the agreement.
The purpose of this agreement is to promote mutual recognition of the two standards, JFS and TQF, which are equivalent in conformity certification programs in the food industry, to enhance brand recognition and credibility among distributors, retailers and consumers, and to create opportunities to promote and globally expand food import/export between Taiwan and Japan. This agreement will help to promote the TQF standard and create opportunities for global expansion.
Under this agreement, the 138 TQF-certified sites* will be subject to the mutual recognition program with JFS-B standards. Meanwhile, 104 sites* certified to the JFS-C standard will likewise be subject to the TQF Level 1 mutual recognition program. In addition, 2,032 sites* certified to JFS-B standards will be eligible for TQF Level 1 approval upon passing a gap audit and product inspection with TQF Level 1.
